Assef began his career as an attorney after achieving an education with that selected field. First studying at Bond University Law School, he gained his Bachelor of Laws -- with honours -- in 1992 after schooling that included a partial academic scholarship. Also in 1992, he earned a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Technology in Sydney. Assef continued his education at Bond University Law School, achieving his Master of Laws in 1995. Specifically, he studied toward a major in corporate and takeover law. This education benefited him significantly as he first moved into a role as an attorney. However, work in investment banking interested him as well and he continued his studies in the U.S., gaining a post graduate module in valuation from Harvard Business School in 1998 in conjunction with his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester in New York. There, he focused on majors in game theory and corporate finance while again on a partial academic scholarship.
